VAASTU tips for your residential home

Ever dreamt of living in a dream house with everything you’d ever ask for? The house you built with all your hard work, efforts and inputs is like a once in a lifetime kind of investment. You surely want to feel positive, peaceful, fresh and feel a spiritual connection whenever you are at your home. So how should a house be designed to feel the positivity you want to feel? The only solution is Vastu Sastra.

Have you ever felt a certain energy in a room? Maybe a space feels calming and inviting, while another feels oddly off-putting.  This isn't just your imagination! Vaastu Shastra, an ancient Indian science of architecture, believes our homes can significantly impact our well-being.

Confused? Let's unlock the information of Vastu for a happier, healthier home.

Vaastu emphasizes the power of directions. There are eight directions in a horizontal plane – east, west, north, south, north-east, north-west, south-east, and south-west.  When it comes to kitchen vastu, each direction is very important. It follows principles to balance the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, and space) and cosmic energy for well-being. The Northeast, for instance, is the zone of spirituality and growth. Keeping this area clutter-free and well-lit can boost your mental clarity.

Here are some 5 Vaastu tips you need to have at your home.

Entrance

The entrance of your home is more than just a doorway; it's the gateway to your well-being. Vaastu Shastra, the ancient science of design, offers valuable insights to create an auspicious entrance that welcomes positive energy to your house.

North, east, or northeast are ideal for your main door, symbolizing new beginnings and prosperity. The north direction is associated with Kubera, the god of wealth and prosperity in Hindu mythology. Having the main entrance in the north is believed to attract positive energy flow that supports financial well-being.

Bathroom

The bathroom, often seen as a purely functional space, can be a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation according to Vaastu Shastra. It offers a unique perspective on designing bathrooms that promote well-being and positive energy flow.

Bathroom should be positioned in the northwest or north zone of your house. Having a bathroom in these directions is believed to facilitate better energy flow and harmony within the home. However, according to vastu, it is necessary to place the commode towards the north or east direction.

Bedroom

Bedroom is the space we use the most, especially during the night, having a positive bedroom gives one a peaceful sound sleep. According to Vastu, the southwest corner of your house is considered the most auspicious location for the master bedroom. This placement is believed to bring happiness, peace, and prosperity

In addition, sleeping with your head towards the south or east is considered to be more beneficial. Avoid placing the bedroom towards the south-east or north-east as it can lead to disagreements.

Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home, where meals are prepared, families gather, and nourishment is nurtured. According to Vastu, the southeast corner is the ideal zone for the kitchen. This area is considered the domain of Agni, the god of fire, making it an auspicious location for cooking. The northwest corner is another suitable option, as it promotes air circulation, which is vital for a well-functioning kitchen.

Avoid placing the kitchen towards the northeast and southwest corners as the northeast zone is associated with water energy, which can clash with the fire element of cooking. However, it is necessary to place the stove towards the east direction while cooking.

Water Tanks

Water tanks, crucial for storing this vital resource, can also play a role in balancing the energy flow within your home. For underground water tanks, the ideal location lies in the north or northeast or north-west zone of your house. These directions are associated with the water element itself, creating a harmonious alignment.

While for the overhead tanks, it should be positioned in the southwest corner of your residence. This zone represents the earth element, which is believed to provide stability and support for the weight of the water tank.

Now, you can go look around the house if it also has the spaces built according to the needed Vaastu directions. For more vastu tips, click Vastu Shastra Rules for Kitchen.
